How to survive an amusement park…. Wait, is that even possible?

We are very lucky to have a family member that gives us free tickets to Hersheypark. So once every summer we head out and enjoy some crazy rides. Well, the kids do, I get nauseous. Anyway, I try to be as prepared as I can with what I can fit in a backpack because we usually stay open to close, now that the kiddos are older. This list works for an amusement park you can go to for a day. Disney, I’m sure, is a whole other ball game! Which I hope to visit in the future!!

Here’s my go-to list of amusement park needs:     How to survive an amusement park. family, fun, amusement, list, prepare, kids

Tickets (very important!)

Sunblock

Hats

Small bag with bandaids, tissues, hair ties, etc.

Bathing suits and towels in a plastic bag (I put my & my daughter’s suit in 1 bag, my hubs and son’s suit in another bag because we change in separate areas. Then when done and change back, we throw wet suits/towels in plastic bag.)

Flip flops (we wear sneakers, bring flops for water park)

Mobile charger/phones

Deodorant

Money

Sharpie (to mark initials on water bottles)                             How to survive an amusement park. family, fun, amusement, list, prepare, kids

It’s not a huge list. But anymore and I’d need a suitcase! These are some things I found that we need and/or makes it a little easier. We also buy water bottles (can’t bring bottles into park) and then refill at water fountains around park.

This year was nice. The kids are getting to the point where they can wait in line together without mom and dad. So, we can sit on a bench and watch them till they get on the ride and we don’t have to do too many spinny rides! This momma can not handle that anymore! Liv loves the roller coasters and Alex went on his first major roller coaster this year (Sooper Dooper Looper). He was not a fan because it went upside down. I screamed. I scream on most roller coasters. And the pirate ship. And other rides. Yeah, I’m a screamer.

We did the boardwalk (water park). We had lots of food. Played in the arcade and won lots of tickets. We also had 2 or 3 people give us tickets! So Awesome!

It’s a great tradition I hope we continue for awhile.               How to survive an amusement park. family, fun, amusement, list, prepare, kids

It’s a long, exhausting day. But we always have fun! (Except for the occasional melt down, the kids, not me…usually).

Is your family crazy enough to do amusement parks? Do you have anything to add to the list? My kids are elementary school age, so younger kids will probably need more essentials.

Oh yeah. You would be so brave if you went now! We’ve only gone the last 2 or 3 years. My kids are 6 & 10. Thanks for comment!
